ACROSS THE LINE

Synopsis: Out of the approximately 600 players in the National Hockey League(NHL), thirty are Black. MATTIE SLAUGHTER (Stephan James), a hockey phenom from the rural Black community of North Preston wants to make it thirty-one. To do it though, Mattie needs to stay away from trouble. Hard to do though, when you go to a school where racism taints every interaction, your older brother is hustling young girls and you’re crushing on a girl, JAYME SLAUGHTER (Sarah Jeffery), who’s already hooked up. However, if Mattie can navigate life’s hurdles, he’ll find his NHL dreams just across the line.
