Katerina Munis is a visionary writer, director, and extended-reality filmmaker who innovates at the nexus of art and technology, propelling change in the next frontier of filmmaking. Katerina received an MFA from the U.S.C. in Film & Television Production.
She executed her debut film Daedalus using XR technology, creating 3D worlds and shooting within immersive environments on an LED volume. Daedalus was awarded the Fox Productions grant, won “Best Director” at the Beverly Hills Film Festival, and has received myriad awards during its current international festival circuit.
Most recently, Katerina was Director of Productions at XR Stage, a global studio for immersive 3D filmmaking. At XT Stage, Katerina propelled cutting-edge extended-reality worlds for major studio film, television, commercial, and music productions. Today, Katerina lectures on AI, XR, and immersive filmmaking, teaching artists how to wield this dazzling technology while prioritizing human creativity.
Katerina’s work has been recognized by the Academy Awards’ Nicholls Fellowship, the Sundance Institute, FOX productions, European Cinematography Awards, Women in Media, HBO, and more. Katerina is driven by creative enterprises that ignite the mind and the enthrall the imagination.
